COMMENTARY ON THE LESSONS
Lesson 1: Jeremiah 32:1-3a, 6-15 (C)
In a nutshell, Jeremiah is demonstrating his optimism about the future. Yes, bad times will come. But the arrival of his uncle Shallum's son Hanamel regarding the sale of a field, exactly as Jeremiah's premonition led him to expect, convinced Jeremiah that God's guiding hand was at work and that the field, which symbolized prosperity in the land, would be needed later.
