Worship
Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Prayer Of The Day
P: Gracious God, you welcome us at your table whenever we arrive. Speak your word of grace to us, so that rather than judging others, we would lift our voices in thanksgiving for grace beyond measure and love beyond deserving, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen.
Intercessory Prayers
After each petition:
L: O Giver of life,
C: bring in your kingdom.
Offertory Prayer
A: Merciful Father,
C: we call them the fruits of our labors, missing the hidden gift in every good thing. As we lift this offering to you may our eyes be opened, so that we might recognize all of life as your gracious gift, given for us, in the name of Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
Eucharistic Prayer
Use Eucharistic Prayer from Proper 13/Pentecost 11.
Sending Litany
A: Workers in the vineyard,
C: from early morning 'til dusk falls,
A: workers in the vineyard,
C: from the mid-day heat 'til the moon begins to rise,
A: workers in the vineyard,

take you by surprise,
on this day, and eternally.

Service Notes
Just as a new translation sometimes helps us to pray a hymn anew, so also an alternate harmonization will give us a new experience. The setting of a eucharistic hymn text, "O Living Bread From Heaven" (LBW 197), to an advent tune, "Rejoice, Rejoice, Believers" (LBW 25), holds the possibility of such a fresh hearing.
