A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 8)
One: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
All: Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.
Women: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;
Men: what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?
Left: Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.
Right: You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,
Front: all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,
Back: the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
All: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Unison Prayer
Lord of all we see and cannot see, creation praises you through all the seasons. We praise you because we are in such awe of what you have made. The more we learn about the world and the universe, the more impressed we become. How great you are, O Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! We praise you, and pray that we will be able to tell others about what you have done for us. Amen.
Morning Prayer
Lord of our lives, we offer you our lives, our joys and our sorrows, our concerns and our cares. Hear us in our suffering, share with us our happiness. We ask you to be especially present with those who have lost loved ones, with those who may face trials, with those who need healing. We pray for those who cannot be with us today. Draw us closer as your family, both here in this building and with others of good will around the world. Let the experiences of our lives point our hearts and minds towards you. Amen.
Unison Offering Prayer
We give you, Lord, only a portion of what you have given us. We give this freely and with a cheerful heart. Bless us, Lord in our giving, and use these gifts magnificently for the work of the kingdom throughout the world. Amen.
