Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Gospel Lesson: Luke 14:25-33
Theme: Hiring The Right Architect
Call To Worship (Psalm 126)
One: When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
All: Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them."
Left Side: The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.
Right Side: Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the watercourses in the Negeb.
Upstairs: May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy.
Downstairs: Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves.
Collect
Our lives surrendered, then returned in full,
We count the cost and then become God's will.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have counted the cost, we have laid a foundation, we have prepared for your great harvest. We are assembled here as willing workers. We state before this community of faith that we are ready. You have done great things for us, and we have rejoiced. You have restored our fortunes. Now challenge us, Lord, to reap with shouts of joy, the harvest of souls, the friendless, the hungry, the hated, the forgotten, your many children young and old who are starved for your kingdom. There are enough of us for this work, if we dedicate our lives in your service. We love you, Lord. We pray for your strength. Amen.
Hymns
Come, O Creator Spirit, Come
Count Well The Cost (see page 276 in the printed book version)
