Words Of Assurance
Neither death, nor life... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
Pastoral Prayer
Father, thank you for today: fresh with the sparkling dew, bright with the splendor of a new day, and alive with the vitality of your perennial Spirit. May we receive this day thoughtfully, graciously, and tenderly. Thank you for the joy of good health; for the enthusiasm of youth; for the wisdom of mature years; for the insatiable thirst for the good, the true, and the beautiful; for this season of refreshment to restore body, mind, and spirit; for your Word through which life's meaning is revealed and we are nurtured; for vacations that refresh and help to restore a proper perspective to year-round tasks; for your love persevering through disappointment, loneliness, failure, and frustration; for the promise of a new heaven and a new earth in the presence of the disintegration of the present order.
Oh, to be your person in all the relationships of our every day -- as Jesus was. This is our calling! Do not give up on us, O God; call us again and again. In life or in death may we be faithful to our high calling to be your children.
In our hurry and flurry may we not neglect to wait upon you to get our signals straight. May we wait, lest our words pose as your words and our actions as your acts. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so are your thoughts higher than our thoughts and your ways than our ways. May we be still and know that you are God, for in quietness and confidence is our strength.
May your good work begun in us continue and be brought to fruition through the victory that you offer in Christ, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Benediction
You are the Lord's own, his hands and feet on earth, temples of his Spirit, so you may share his life and blessings with others. Go now in peace, and the blessing of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit go with you. Amen.
