Cycle B, Series IV
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us gather together and lift our voices in celebration before God!
People: Let us set aside the burdens of life and thank God we have been redeemed.
Leader: And we thank God for calling us to carry word of Christ wherever we go.
People: King David danced before the Lord and some even then were critical.
Leader: Like David, let us celebrate with joyfulness God's mercy and grace.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, we are so grateful that in Your wisdom You have called each one of us to be an open and living witness to Your Kingdom in Christ. Help us, Lord, to share Your love joyfully. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, so often we have allowed the doubters and the skeptics of this world to criticize and intimidate us and keep us from showing the joy we feel in our hearts because You called us and touched our lives. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to join King David in boldly and honestly living our faith for all to see and celebrating Your love and call upon our lives. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus"
"Lord Of The Dance"
"Victory In Jesus"

Call To Worship
Leader: We are heirs with Christ in the Kingdom of Almighty God!
People: We were bought by the blood of Christ according to God's own plan.
Leader: It is beyond all we could imagine to be loved so by God.
People: Our hearts are filled with wonder that we are indeed among the chosen.
Leader: Let us lift our voices in song and praise for God's gracious love.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and Loving God, Your ways are truly not our ways and we stand amazed when we consider the price You paid that we might receive Your love and eternal life. Indeed, Lord, we praise You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, so often we take for granted and never really comprehend the magnitude of the gift we received as we became Christians. Too often, Lord, we have acted as if it were nothing special to be adopted into Your Kingdom. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to regain the wonder and awe of being beloved members in the family of the Creator God of the Universe. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord"
"Let There Be Light"
"We've A Story To Tell To The Nations"

Gospel: Mark 6:14-29
Theme: John's death: the cost of integrity
Call To Worship
Leader: We are sent into the world to be witnesses of God's love and power.
People: What shall we take with us that all might know Who sent us?
Leader: The witness of God's love and mercy and grace in our lives.
People: Will that be enough as others offer the things of the world?
Leader: There is no greater message than that of God's love that made us whole.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and loving God, Your mercy and grace are seldom more clearly seen than when You allow the wicked people of this world to kill off Your prophets. Help us to start listening, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have received Your restoring Word but feared to pass it on. Too often we have only received Your life-changing Good News and failed also to be Your messengers, or we have accepted Your blessings and ignored the responsibilities to share Your love with the world. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to witness boldly of Your love today. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns

"Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise"
