An Easter Petition
Come, risen Jesus! Rise up again!
And help us cope with the bloated monster of untimely death.
It strides in bloody arrogance across the land.
It nestles in the hearts of the greedy, who garner gain while masses go hungry.
It whispers in the ears of politicians that the rich should be pampered,
And the poor disregarded.
Its harvest is horrible in the slums of our cities,
On our roads, in our streets and airways,
And in the careless ways we daily live.
