Karl Schmidt loved to sing, and for good reason. His rich baritone had been a lead voice in the church choir ever since he graduated from high school more than 30 years ago. And like so many singers, sometimes a tune would get stuck in his mind and vocal chords and he couldn't dislodge it, much to the dismay, at times, of his wife Ellen.
