"I know, I know," he conceded as they sat at a table in the elegant dining room of the Gem Of My Life restaurant. "I never said you were easy. And god knows you come at a price, a great price," he laughed while he scanned the list of costly entrees. Setting aside the menu, he gently took Pearlie's hands and declared, "But, Pearlie, you're the kind of girl I've always wanted to have -- ever since I set eyes on you two months ago."
