1. O God, I cry to you, beset with anguish.
Groaning I make my plea, in great distress.
While I am waiting here, distraught I languish.
Will you not answer? I crave your caress.
2. Have you forsaken me? Left me to wander?
Do you not hear my call? Answer is none.
Out of the depths I wail; hope cast asunder.
Hear me, I pray you. When will your help come?
3. Yet, Lord, in you I trust, knowing your story,
As I remember your grace in the past:
To you our people cried. You showed your glory.
