Thanksgiving Sunday
Pastor: Think of it! How sad it would be were we to have no one whom we could thank.
People: No one with enough resources to offer us genuine gifts; no one with enough power to give us help and guidance when we're at the limits of our lives.
Pastor: Think of the implications of living in a world where there is no God to praise, no Creator to whom we can express gratitude, no Power outside ourselves to make us adequate and grant meaning to our lives, and lift us above our own little projects of small consequence.
People: But we're not condemned to such a sad and useless existence. For we know the name of that heavenly Power, that holy God who has made us and called us to be His own.
Pastor: Then come, raise your voices on high, accept the priceless gift of being able to give praise to the Lord God. Share those thanksgivings in your hearts which announce to the world that you are not alone, for you are honored as a child of God, one who is blessed by the Lord of lords.
