My mother died. I was 25 years old. This was my first experience with death -- real death. Yes, I knew of people who had died before -- relatives, people whose deaths were reported on the news, and even a classmate of mine in high school (though there were 900 in our class and I didn't know the person well). My mother's death was my first real experience with death.
