Call To Worship
Leader: Let all who would serve the Lord enter God's house for worship!
People: We would serve the Lord our God but we are weak and without voice.
Leader: The Lord is our strength and gives us the words to proclaim to all.
People: Then let us lean upon the Lord and lift our voices to serve the Christ.
Leader: And let our hearts be not afraid as we proclaim the Word of the Lord.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty Creator God, You have called us to go forth in faith with Your promise to be our strength and our guide. Give us the courage, Lord, to proclaim Your Word boldly. We thank You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we have heard Your call for us to proclaim the Good News of Christ wherever we are, yet we have held back for fear of not knowing what to say. Too often we have been more concerned about what others might think than we have been about being faithful to You. Forgive us, Lord, and fill us with Your Word to share with the world. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Victory In Jesus"
"Take My Life And Let It Be"
"Only Trust Him"
Fourth Sunday After Epiphany
Second Lesson: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Theme: Committing to love God's way
Call To Worship
Leader: We come together in Christ to live and share God's love in the world.
People: We come together to bring patience into a world full of impatience;
Leader: To bring understanding and concern where there is darkness and pain;
People: And to bring strength and courage that we may all grow in the Lord.
Leader: We do all this because God first loved us through Jesus our Savior.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and merciful God, in Your divine wisdom You have empowered us through Your Holy Spirit to carry Your agape love into the world. Use us, Lord, in every path we walk to love others. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have often misunderstood our personal attractions to others as reaching out to share the unconditional love You would have us live today. Instead of loving, we have often turned away from those not like us whom You died on the Cross to save. Forgive us, Lord, and help us have the spiritual vision to see and love others as You do. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Love Divine, All Loves Excelling"
"In Christ There Is No East Or West"
"The Gift Of Love"
Fourth Sunday After Epiphany
Gospel: Luke 4:21-30
Theme: Familiarity versus Faith
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let all who would proclaim the glory of God enter now for worship!
People: The Lord is our shepherd, in whom we rest our lives and our salvation.
Leader: Then let our voices be raised in praise and worship for all to hear.
People: But some who know us well wonder how we as sinners can worship Christ.
Leader: Let the wonder of God's grace and mercy in Christ be shared with all.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Most gracious and merciful God, in Christ You made it possible for our sins to be washed away so that we might come before You with humble and grateful hearts. We give You our love and praise. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have allowed ourselves to forget that it is only through Your mercy and grace that we are declared righteous in Your sight. We even allow ourselves to think we might be worthy of Your salvation but we are quick to judge others as if You had called us to do so. Forgive us, Lord, and keep us aware that we are saved only by Your grace. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"To God Be The Glory"
"I Know Whom I Have Believed"
"O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee"
