Call To Worship
Leader: It is up to us
People: To take the first step.
Leader: It is our responsibility
People: To exercise body and brain.
Leader: It is our turn
People: To follow the way God sets before us.
All:Rather than people of reaction and rebuttal, let us be people of action and initiation.
Collect
Be our guardian and guide, O sustaining God, as we attempt to take responsibility for our lives. Bolster our humility when we need to be humble so we might participate fully in the miracles you offer for our well-being. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
In our attempt to avoid taking responsibility for our health, O God, we make simple things difficult. Show us clearly what is up to us to do and what is in your hand. Where we must soften ego pride, help us to do it. Where we need to brace self esteem, strengthen us. Through your Holy Spirit. Amen.
44C Hymns1
"God Of [The Ages][Our Fathers]" Tune: NATIONAL HYMN
"Have Thine Own Way, Lord" Tune: ADELAIDE
"At The Name Of Jesus" or "Come To Tend God's Garden" Tune: KING'S WESTON
Proper 9
Sunday between July 3 and July 9 inclusive
Second Lesson: Galatians 6:(1-6) 7-16
Theme: If We Do Not Give Up
Call To Worship
Leader: If we do not give up in learning the language of love,
People: If we do not grow so weary that we stop trying,
Leader: If we do not let go of what is right,
All: Then we will know the freeing mystery, the peace, and the mercy of God's new and living creation.
Collect
We come ready to add words and actions to our vocabulary of love. We come ready to practice the rudiments, to refine the art, and to learn the skill of being loving people. Be thou our guide, O God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Dear God, when we find ourselves growing weary of working for the good of all, we lose our sense of perspective. Help us then to think of those around us. When we become overwhelmed by the magnitude of our task, guide us, God, so we might find a modest responsibility until we regain energy. Through your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Call To Worship
May we cherish the freedom and independence of this great land, but let us not swagger. May we hold to treasured democracy, but let us not gloat. May we lift up the prized values of our constitution, but let us not strut. May our actions carry the spirit of freedom we enjoy into all corners edging this land and all curves rounding this earth.
Collect
Guide us always, O God, in the just way. Stretch our concern to reach beyond ourselves. Guide our nation's leaders to search always for the peaceful means. Let our sense of respect be all-encompassing. Through your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lest we forget how vulnerable the struggle for independence, let us listen to the people of this land and of this world who still weep. Lest we forget how fragile is freedom, let us listen to those under the yoke of chaos. Help us to go on our way carrying the spirit of love and words of peace. Amen.
