Taken from the old Arabian fable, "The Princes of Serendip," we get the word "serendipity."Haven't you had an unexpected gift, an unusual pleasure, something not planned for of much value come to you in your life? Some may think of it as a windfall, if it is an economic surprise they have received.

Here are some examples of serendipity.

Hank Ketcham, a newspaper cartoonist, came home from work one day to find his wife in tears. She said, "Our son, Dennis, is a menace!" The result has been a very popular cartoon on the newspaper comics page.
