God's Word in fullness and flesh
Prayer
Contemporary Lectionary Prayers
Cycle B
Gospel Note:
John's reworking of this pre-Christmas hymn implies an irony:
although God's Word is eternal and embodied in the very majesty
of the created order, it is only manifested fully in all its
glory when made flesh.
Liturgical Color:
White
Suggested Hymns:
All Praise To You, Eternal Lord
Once Again My Heart Rejoices
From Heaven Above
From Shepherding Of Stars
From East To West
Come Rejoicing, Praises Voicing
Christmas Day
Lord God, keeper of every promise,
we feel the excitement in the air!
Visions of singing angels and kneeling shepherds
continue to dance in our minds.
The morning light has come.
Christmas Day has dawned.
We hear the sounds of life stirring all around us
as we greet this new day.
House by house,
street by street,
neighborhood by neighborhood,
all over the world,
the story of this birth
is told and retold.
You have kept your promise!
This newborn king makes new life possible.
May the joy of this day shine brightly in our
lives forever and ever.
Amen.
