Call To Worship
Leader: Stand firm before the Lord! The powers of this world cannot prevail!
People: Yet the world is powerful and does threaten great harm to God's people.
Leader: But the powers of this age do not control our faith or our eternity.
People: We stand on the Word of the Lord! Christ is the rock of our salvation!
Leader: So that all the world should hear, let us give praise and glory to our God!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and wonderful God, even though all the powers of evil might raise their hand against You, Your Holy Kingdom will be victorious. Call us anew into Your service, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, sometimes amid all that seems to be going wrong in the world around us we have been tempted to doubt that You really are in control of our destiny. At times we have even considered yielding to pressures that would have us do things You would not have us be about. Forgive us, Lord, and instill in our hearts the strength to be Your faithful servants. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"All Hail The Power Of Jesus' Name"
"He Keeps Me Singing"
"Standing On The Promises"
Proper 6
Sunday between June 12 and June 18 inclusive
Second Lesson: Galatians 2:15-21
Theme: Living by faith
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, let all whose faith is in Christ gather now for worship!
People: We begin each day only by God's wonderful mercy and grace.
Leader: And our labors are dedicated to the Lord, who has saved us from sin.
People: We come to the end of each day with the Lord, who has walked with us.
Leader: We have true life and joy only in Christ and the love of our God!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Most wonderful and gracious God, You are truly the Almighty One, yet in Your mercy You have chosen to walk with even the least of us through all the days of our lives. We praise You, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, it has often been difficult for us to move beyond what we can see and touch and to step out in faith to be about the things You would have us do in Your name. Too often, Lord, we allow ourselves to be enchanted by the comforts of life, as we fail to remember that we must walk in faith to know Your eternity. Forgive us, Lord, and call us again to serve You. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Great Is Thy Faithfulness"
"Have Faith In God"
"My Faith Looks Up To Thee"
Proper 6
Sunday between June 12 and June 18 inclusive
Gospel: Luke 7:36--8:3
Theme: Forgiven before the Lord
Call To Worship
Leader: Come, all who have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God!
People: But the house of the Lord is only for the righteous.
Leader: In Christ, we are each made righteous before the Lord.
People: Are we washed clean and made pure so as not to offend our God?
Leader: Lift your voices in praise! In Christ, we are pure before God.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Most perfect and mighty God, even when we were mired in the depths of our sins You reached out to us, pulled us free, and washed us clean. Help us to proclaim Your love for all the world to hear. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often the condemnation of the world and even of our own hearts blinds us to the price You paid to take our sins away. We are so accustomed to the ways of our culture that we will not see we have each fallen very short of Your standards for us. Forgive us, Lord, and help us to accept Your forgiveness so that we might pass it on. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Grace Greater Than Our Sin"
"Are Ye Able?"
"Jesus Paid It All"
