Epiphany 4
Poems
A GOSPEL TREASURY
Poems Based on Lectionary Gospels
When Jesus sent the demon out
and bade him go away,
he freed the man in whom he dwelt
from sin and disarray.
For there in old Capernaum
he taught a mighty fact.
Where Jesus Christ is fully known,
Sin is not free to act.
Most loving Lord, now hear our prayer.
Erase our sin and doubt.
And help us with your mighty pow’r,
to cast our demons out.
And give us grace to let them go,
familiar though they be,
and take your place within our lives
throughout eternity.
and bade him go away,
he freed the man in whom he dwelt
from sin and disarray.
For there in old Capernaum
he taught a mighty fact.
Where Jesus Christ is fully known,
Sin is not free to act.
Most loving Lord, now hear our prayer.
Erase our sin and doubt.
And help us with your mighty pow’r,
to cast our demons out.
And give us grace to let them go,
familiar though they be,
and take your place within our lives
throughout eternity.
