Sometimes, our God, we try to imagine what our world would be like if your Son had never come. And the wise men had never made their trek to Bethlehem. What if the empires of his day had continued on and on, without challenge from him or his disciples? What if the religious people of his land had become more and more entrenched within their restrictive laws? What if license had been mistaken for freedom? What if orgies had been mistaken for joy? What if the stealing and looting had been mistaken for victory or achievement? What if taking the spoils of war had been mistaken for ownership?
