Eighth Sunday After Epiphany
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Worry
Call To Worship
Jesus said: "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Come now to Jesus. Come and honor him. Come to be blessed by him. Come to be transformed by him.
Invocation
O Lord, equip us to worship you as our gracious God, serve you as our worthy Lord, and trust you as our faithful companion. Lead us to new insights and discoveries; to old, proven truths and certainties; to renewed vision and purpose. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
Confession
Dear God, our lives are filled with concern about all the things you have told us not to worry about. We are so occupied with what we shall eat and drink, what we shall wear, where we will live that there is little time for anything else. Give to us that faith which will free us from these worries and enable us to straighten out our priorities, so that we may be worthy workers for your kingdom. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Gracious God, may these gifts reach and touch those who are hurting, those who are filled with longing for a sign of hope, with the message of your love. Amen.
Hymns
"God Will Take Care Of You"
"Leaning On The Everlasting Arms"
"I Sing The Almighty Power Of God"
