The one we call "dumb,"
Yet patient, mild and meek,
Carrying the very Child,
The Word that God would speak.

Palm branches at his feet.
Silently he trod his way
And every step he took
Spoke aloud the donkey's praise.
And when the rest forsook
Their Lord that fateful day
On which he died,
