Purpose Statement: We need to know the meaning of the symbols of our church if they are to be relevant for us.
Occasionally, we should be reminded of the explanation for each of our church symbols, which may include the sacraments (include the full seven of the Roman Catholic Church if you like, simply for educational purposes); the colors of the church year; the parts of the church (narthex, chancel, etc.); as well as the robe, hood, stoles, and academic colors; and, of course, the central symbols of cross, candles, ihs, ichthus, the image of the fish, etc.
