Gospel Note:
Mark here records Jesus' forgiveness of a paralytic as well as
the negative reaction of some of the religious establishment on
the grounds that such an act is blasphemous, since forgiveness is
a prerogative of God alone. Jesus' response is to demonstrate his
own divine authority by simply healing the newly forgiven man.
