Dirty Fingernails, Clean Hearts
Cycle B Gospel Text Sermons for Pentecost Middle Third
One thing I have noticed about church people is how they usually wash up before they go to church. It is uncommon to see a Christian with a dirty face, especially on a Sunday morning. There are exceptions, of course: the devilish boy slips in early for coffee hour and has chocolate icing on his chin or an older woman whose eyeliner did not end up in the right place. But most Christians take pride in the appearances they maintain. They scrub up for worship.
