Call To Worship (Psalm 86:16-17)
One: Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant; save the child of your serving girl.
All: Show me a sign of your favor, so that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
Collect
Gather the nations, Lord, into your temple. Let us be light to shine as a beacon. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
You are God of all nations and all faiths, Lord. Before we talk about other churches, other faiths, other believers, challenge us to talk to them instead, to come to a place of meeting and understanding. These are all your children, Ishmael as much as Isaac. Thank you Lord for your boundless love. Amen.
Hymns
"Healer Of Our Every Ill"
"For The Healing Of The Nations"
"Blest Be The Tie"
Proper 7/Ordinary Time 12
Sunday between June 19 and June 25 inclusive
Second Lesson: Romans 6:1b-11
Theme: Playing The Game
Call To Worship (Romans 6:1b-4)
Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Collect
Let us die to sin and be raised in new life. Lord we have asked to carry our cross, to bear the marks of Jesus in our lives. Take us more seriously than we do ourselves, and grant us the wish to call all into your community of faith. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, our sins prove the abundance of your mercy, as you forgive us again and again. Still, we pray that we might no longer try the limits of your patience. Mold us in your image that we might more perfectly serve you. Amen.
Hymns
"Crown Him With Many Crowns"
"Come Ye Faithful People Come"
"Come Holy Spirit, Dove Divine"
Proper 7/Ordinary Time 12
Sunday between June 19 and June 25 inclusive
Gospel Lesson: Matthew 10:24-39
Theme: Backwards Day
Call To Worship (Psalm 86:1-4)
One: Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Two: Preserve my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you.
Three: You are my God; be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day long.
Four: Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
Collect
Lord, in the dry places of our lives you know what troubles us, even before we ask. You answer our call and we have not yet called. There is no place we can go that you will not be waiting for us. We praise you for your faithfulness. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
In losing we gain, in dying we live. We step into the darkness, sure of your guiding hand in our lives. When we falter, Lord, please catch us, and set us on the right course again. Amen.
Hymns
"Praise Him, Praise Him"
"There's A Wideness In God's Mercy"
"God Of Grace And God Of Glory"
