Call To Worship
Where does confidence come from? When King David moved the ark of God, he danced with all his might before God. He danced as suits one wearing a piece of linen clothing called an ephod. This vestment worn by priests was a symbol of religious authority. What inner or outer garment reminds you to dance your dance with all your might?
Collect
From writing and singing of psalms to playing the lyre and dancing to the tambourine, music was the art form of King David's life. We praise you, O God, with the unique art forms of our lives. We dance our dance for you with all our might. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We dance to perform. We dance to please. We dance to express our joy. We dance as a whole-body way to praise you, our God. Even in our sitting still, let our lives be a dance to you. Amen.
45B Hymns
"Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee" Tune: HYMN TO JOY
"Lift Every Voice And Sing" Tune: LIFT EVERY VOICE
"I Danced In The Morning" Tune: LORD OF THE DANCE

Call To Worship
Leader: We go forward
People: Because God has blessed us in Christ.
Leader: We go forward
People: Because God has chosen us to love.
Leader: We go forward
People: In the strength of the name of Christ.
Leader: We go forward
People: Freed for fullness of life.
All: All praise to God.
Collect
We come before you, O God of blessings, knowing we hold the responsibility for our actions and for living out our lives as fully and honorably as possible. We can triumph over that which would seduce and distract us because your blessings reveal we live not for ourselves alone. All praise to you, O God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
When we try to live without a "because," we flounder and hesitate and move backward. When we try to live within the focus of your "because," we flounder, hesitate, and move backward, then go forward again with renewed resolve. Keep us mindful of your "because" in our lives, O God. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
45B Hymns
"Forth In [Thy][Your] Name I Go" Tune: DUKE STREET
"In [Thee][You] Is Gladness" Tune: IN DIR IST FREUDE
"Sent Forth By God's Blessing" Tune: THE ASH GROVE
Proper 10
Sunday between July 10 and July 16 inclusive
Gospel: Mark 6:14-29
Theme: In A Careless Moment
Call To Worship
Jealousy, misused power, the thwarting of another's plans, pointing out one's sin -- all can lead to the politically wrong dance. By doing what they do to initiate change, advisers, counselors, guides, and leaders in all positions risk losing heads in scheming struggles for power.
Collect
We would dance the dance of leadership with integrity. We would hold to high values with tenacity. We would stay with what is right despite the risks. We need your support, O God. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
As nations and as individuals, give us the strength, O mighty God, to choose between right and wrong, between what is moral and immoral, despite the times, vanity, and careless moments. For the sake of Christ. Amen.
45B Hymns
"[O][Our] God, Our Help In Ages Past" Tune: ST. ANNE
"For All [Thy][Your] Saints, O Lord" or "O Savior, For The Saints" Tune: FESTAL SONG
"Jesus, Still Lead On" Tune: SEELENBR€UTIGAM
