Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: The Coming King -- Prince Of Peace
Call To Worship
Leader: Unto us a child is born, and unto us a son is given;
People: and the government shall be upon his shoulder;
Leader: his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
People: His authority shall grow continually, and there shall be endless peace.
Invocation
O Father, who declared your love to all humanity by the birth of this holy child at Bethlehem; help us to welcome him with gladness and to make room for him in our common days, so that we may live at peace with one another and in good will with all your family; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Confession
O God, at Christmas we celebrate your presence, the promise that you are never far from us, and that you offer us peace. We must confess though that we have preferred platitudes to your peace, and in place of loving our neighbor we have practiced deceit and contempt. Forgive us, we pray, and teach us to live in such a way that Christmas will be a part of our lives every day of the year. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
O God, whose generosity has known no limits, and who has shared with us the gift of your Son, stir us by that act of love to in turn be generous and to share our gifts with others. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymns
"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
"Joy To The World"
"What Child Is This?"
