People: We've been counting the whole year and today is finally here! How glad we are for God's coming to earth in human form! How glad we are for the family and friends with whom we share this joy!

Living God, we celebrate with you the goodness of creation and your home among humankind. In these moments together, we thank you for the gift of life in Jesus and in one another. Shared Gifts
Minister or leader reflects briefly on the hopes of humankind for a savior. Then s/he talks about "gifts" of God including Jesus of Nazareth as a baby to Mary and Joseph and to all humankind as a teacher. Mention might be made of the gifts to the baby: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. S/he can show and tell her/his special Christmas gift, such as, "Today, this is my special gift because...." Then s/he invites members of the congregation to share their gifts.
Hymn (Congregation or Ensemble)

Offertory Statement (Leader)

Come kneel before the radiant boy Who brings you beauty peace and joy.

(might be instrumental)
Doxology
Angels We Have Heard On High (Refrain)
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Thanksgiving Prayer
God of Jesus and Mary -- thank you for our minds that think and for our hearts that feel compassion and love. For these moneys, for talents, and for time to be intentional about making your kingdom visible and tangible here and throughout the global village, we are grateful. Amen.
An Affirmation (Leader)
There are many ways to articulate our faith story. Poets and essayists, artists and choreographers, theologians and apologists down through the ages have left us a large repertoire of words, melodies, paintings, and movements. In the nineteenth century, Cecil Frances Alexander wrote a poem that was given a melody in 1849 by Henry John Gauntlett, one year after the lyrics were written. Today, we sing this carol as our affirmation of the Christmas story -- "Once In Royal David's City."
Benediction
Leader: We've counted the days and Christmas is here!
People: We are grateful God chose humankind as "home."
Leader: Show that gratitude in the ways you are with one another today and every day. Demonstrate your thankfulness with words and actions.
People: We leave here determined to live the truths of the Christmas story!
Leader: Merry Christmas!
Congregational Response
Go, Tell It On The Mountain (v. 3 with refrain)
Down in a lowly manger the humble Christ was born,
and God sent us salvation that blessed Christmas morn.
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;
go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!
