Series VIII, Cycle A

Call To Worship
One: When the floods and storms of the world threaten
to overwhelm us,
All: God's peace flows through us,
to calm our troubled lives.
One: When the thunder of the culture's claims on us
deafens us to hope,
All: God whispers to us
and soothes our souls.
One: When the wilderness begs us to come out and play,
All: God takes us by the hand
and we dance into the garden of grace.
Prayer Of The Day
Your voice whispers
over the waters of life,
echoing in our hearts.
Your voice shatters
the chain of sin,
so we may skip into the kingdom.
Your voice shakes
the wilderness we travel through,
blessing us with your peace.
And we cry, "Glory!"
God of Love.
You would not let your love be broken,
and so we are made whole;
you rescue us from death's row,
and we will live with you.
You will bring justice
to all who are needy and poor,
so we wait for you.
And we cry, "Glory!"
Beloved of God.
As we touch the waters of baptism,
touch us with your cleansing grace;
as we are healed by your peace,
may we bind up the brokenhearted;
as we are liberated by your love
may we work to free all captives.
And we cry, "Glory!"
Spirit of love.
We cry, "Glory!"
God in Community, Holy in One,
even as we pray as we have been taught,
Our Father ...
Call To Reconciliation
It makes no difference if you were sprinkled, washed, or immersed. In baptism, you were claimed as God's own, and gifted with the Holy Spirit. Let us remember the promises of mercy, even as we confess our unfaithfulness.
Unison Prayer Of Confession
Brooder of Water, you call us to make no distinctions between people, yet we persist in dividing folks by class or race or age or whatever. You want us to tell of what we have learned about Jesus, but only silence is heard by others. You encourage us to trust the new life you offer, but we cling firmly to our past.
Forgive us, Fountain of Faith. In baptism, you call us by name, and tell us how loved we are. Remind us of the promises made to heal, to forgive, and to transform us in the living waters of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Silence is kept
Assurance Of Pardon
One: This is the good news! Baptized in water, we are God's beloved, forgiven and made whole by the grace that flows through us.
All: Thanks be to God! Filled with the Spirit, overflowing with hope, we will bear witness to all of what God has done in our lives. Amen.
