A boy was walking down the road, tired, hungry, lonely, limping on his left foot. His hands in his pockets, he met an old grandmother who, seeing the sad look on the boy's face, cried out, "Heaven and earth were made for you, child!" Without thinking the boy lifted his shoulders and hopping on his right foot, began to whistle, until he came to a small bird, lying on the road with a lame limb. "What right have you to spoil my day!" the boy shouted at the bird. "Heaven and earth are made for me!" and he kicked the bird to the side of the road.
