C: and hide within us.

C: and fester within us.

C: and may your Spirit live in us. Amen.
Prayer Of The Day

C: Amen.
Hymn And Prayer For Lighting The Second Advent Candle
Sing verse 2 of the hymn chosen for Advent 1.
Burn brightly in our hearts, Lord, and set us on the path.
Offertory Prayer
A: Gracious God, we are the work of your hands and we come before you with thanksgiving.
C: Receive these gifts as signs of hope, that what you have begun in our lives will continue until that great day comes when you will make all things new.
We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Eucharistic Prayer
If you are serving in a congregation whose tradition it is to use only the Words of Institution, this Eucharistic Prayer based on the scripture readings for the day (with supplements) may be a vehicle to introduce the practice of Eucharistic praying to your congregation. Consider using these texts of creation, redemption, and sanctification, so that what is given to us as proclamation may at the same time be prayed by us in thanksgiving. The "orans" position, where the presider's hands are lifted open at shoulder height, would be an appropriate way to embody this prayer. This prayer may follow the Eucharistic dialogue, proper preface, and Sanctus.
P: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form and void,
and darkness was on the face of the deep;
and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.
And God said,
"Let there be light,"
and there was light.
(Genesis 1:1-4)
C: Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel
who alone does wondrous things.
(Psalm 72:18)
P: The Israelites ate manna forty years,
until they came to a habitable land;
they ate manna,
until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.
(Exodus 16:35)
C: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.
P: A shoot shall come out of the stump of Jesse,
and a branch shall grow out of its roots.
The spirit of the Lord shall rest on him,
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
His delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
(Isaiah 11:1-3)
C: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.
P: In the night in which he was betrayed,
our Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and said,
"This is my body, given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."
Again after supper he took the cup, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
(1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
C: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.
P: May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
(Romans 15:13)
C: Amen.
Post-Communion Hymn
Blessed Be The God Of Israel
Benediction
Consider having a young child as your assisting minister for this prayer.
A: The wolf shall live with the lamb,
the leopard shall lie down with the kid,
the calf and the lion and the fatling together,
and a little child shall lead them.
P: May the peace of the little child lead you,
and may your lives forever bear his good fruit.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
