You've probably seen his picture in all the guidebooks. He's been featured in The New York Times. He has been the subject of segments on the Travel Channel. When tourists spot him, they crowd around and clamor for pictures. Yet he is not an athlete, a musician, or an actor. His name is Chhoun Neam and he is famous. He is famous because he is the sweeper at Ta Prohm Temple. People are drawn to this weathered old bald man with his fringed black shirt and simple rubber sandals because he seems to embody the timeless inspiration that haunts the ancient temples of Angkor in Cambodia.
