The writer of Ecclesiastes says the activity of man is "vanity" and as useless as "striving after wind." When one considers the present state of man, with his love for war, his pursuit for pleasure, and his apparent alienation from God, it is difficult not to agree with the third century B.C. philosopher. Yet, one must look at the best humanity has to offer, and the best is that man is a creation of God, and thus has the essence of God's Spirit within him.
