The widow in today's parable...

The widow in today's parable is praised for her persistence in presenting her requests before an unjust judge. So we "ought always to pray and not lose heart."
There is a family in a small Missouri town who built their dream home, then were refused permission to have electricity, because the nearest fire hydrant was more than 500 feet away. They thought a nearby housing development should share in the cost, but officials said no.
The dispute went on for five years before the family finally won out. "We didn't have a toaster, roaster, mixer, blender, razor, lamps, television, radio, you name it," they said. "We went five Christmases and five Thanksgivings without turkey because our stove needs electricity."
It would be hard to find a more persistent family. Legal fees cost them more than $1,000; but they finally won their case.
Keep at it, says Jesus. Faith is an ingredient of persistent prayer. Continue to pray and don't give up. God will vindicate his people.
