When Jesus prayed to God...

When Jesus prayed to God, he called him by the Aramaic word "Abba" (Mark 14:36). This word "abba" has a warmer shade of meaning then merely "father." lt was the word that a little child used in first-century Palestine. He used it when he addressed his earthly father in the closeness of the family circle. "There is," wrote William Barclay, "only one possible English translation of this word in any ordinary use of it, and that is 'Daddy.' "1 No Jew in Jesus' day would have dared to use that word "abba" for God.
