When Jeremiah spoke his glorious message of hope to a forlorn and desolate Israel, no one in the area even dreamed of a man named Nicodemus. The Temple was a ruin, the Ark was gone, and birds built nests on the remains of the high altar. Even the Sinai covenant was broken, and no one believed Jeremiah when he talked about a new day and a new covenant!
