When it comes to hearing...

When it comes to hearing, bats are amazing creatures. Our United States military has spent millions of dollars studying their sonar system, which has inspired the design of the stealth bomber and other weapons. The bat depends on its ears more than its eyes. The bat emits high-pitched sounds that humans cannot hear. When this sound hits an object it produces an echo that bats hear when it bounces back to them. They can tell how far an object is from them based on how long the echo takes to come back to them. They can tell if it is a bug or a building based on the quality of the echo.
