What's that? Debbie asked...

"What's that?" Debbie asked as she watched her grandma at the kitchen counter preparing supper.
"This is a ricer; it's a kind of strainer," Grandma answered.
"What's it for?" her inquisitive granddaughter asked.
"I put the potatoes inside it like this and then place the lid down on top and squeeze the handle. Here you try it."
Debbie took the utensil in her small hands and did just as her grandma said. The big round potatoes that went in the top came out the bottom looking like small pieces of rice. "That's cool," Debbie chimed, as her eyes took in the transformation.
"Now I can mash the potatoes so much easier," Grandma added. "We all need a strainer in our lives to make things come out right," Grandma said thoughtfully, hopeful her little kitchen parable didn't pass too far over Debbie's head.
