What was it in children...

What was it in children that Jesus admired so much that he could say that we cannot enter the kingdom of God unless we become like little children?
Could it be the spontaneity of children? They show their emotions without hesitation. They are transparent. They have a sense of freedom in the way they respond to life. Adults are so image-conscious, always calculating every move, often afraid to be vulnerable.
Could it be the curiosity of children? A father took his children to visit family friends in a large apartment building. They entered the elevator. The father was anxious to get to his destination upstairs. The children were curious about everything in the elevator -- the lights, the buttons, the feeling of power. It was monotony to the father but an exciting adventure for his children.
Could it be the trust of children? Adults are often worried about tomorrow, about their health and their bank account. Children, on the hand, take a more carefree approach to life. They really trust their father and mother to supply their every need. Jesus wished that his disciples trusted God in such a child-like manner.
