What is the one thing...

What is "the one thing needed" in our lives?
C. S. Lewis relates an incident in his wife, Joy's life when one morning she felt tremendous pressure to do something. Was it a neglected duty? Was it someone she should speak to? She was not certain. But the urgency would not go away.
Finally, in a time of silence God seemed to be speaking to her. The answer that came to her in her inner being was something like this: "I do not want you to do anything. I want to give you something."
Immediately, she sensed a profound peace, greater than she had known in all her serving of others.
Does God want to give us something? The gift may differ with each person. For some it might be stronger faith, a greater sense of self-worth, a more embracing love. Surely, God wants to give each one of us what is most needful for us.
