We had no more dreams...

"We had no more dreams." These were the last words on a suicide note. Felix and Annabelle Chappellet left this note and died together in the garage of their West Los Angeles home. Mrs. Chappellet was the daughter of the founder of a grocery chain. A gardener at the couple's estate found the bodies sprawled on the back seat of a Cadillac sedan. He had noticed that the garage door had been sealed with rags and paper. Contrast this couple, both 73, with a 100-year-old woman in a convalescent home. Glendon Harris reports her 100th birthday party. A person at the party described her. "Her mind was keenly alert and she caught the excitement of the entire celebration. So much so that in the midst of the festivities when a reporter asked her, 'Do you have any children?' she responded without hesitation, 'Not yet!' "
