Washing in the Jordan seven times seemed too simple to Namaan, the leper. At first he refused to follow the prophet's advice.
Sometimes the simple rather than the complex is the route of God's mercy. Mary was a simple, plain woman. Jesus was a simple, plain baby. Bethlehem was a simple, plain town. God became incarnate there.
