Walter was a veteran traveler. His job took him all over world to both famous and the not-so-famous locations. One day this seasoned traveler was traveling with three other people in his company and they were in the Hong Kong airport. He stopped at a phone booth to make a call before getting his boarding pass. When he stopped at the ticketing counter, he realized he had left his wallet -- with his money, his credit cards, and his passport -- on top of the phone.
Panic settled over him as he realized he was in a strange country with no ID, no money, and no passport. He didn't know what to do. A policeman was of little help. He told his coworkers to go on without him. He would figure out something. A few moments later, he heard his name on the airport loud speaker asking him to report to the ticket counter. When he arrived, a clerk handed him his wallet intact -- with all of his money, credit cards, and passport right where they were supposed to be. It turned out that another passenger had turned it in.
He felt blessed! He had been given a gift that he didn't deserve, he didn't earn, and was completely at the mercy of another. To Walter, it was the gospel in a nutshell.
