Verse 4 of John of...

Verse 4 of John of Damascus' ancient and beloved Easter hymn, "The Day of Resurrection," proclaims:
Now let the heavens be joyful, let earth its song begin,
the whole world keep high triumph, and all that is therein;
Let all things seen and unseen their notes of gladness blend,
for Christ again has risen, our joy that has no end.
Easter should be a day of joy for all people in every nation, for, as Peter reminds us in Acts, chapter 10, "God shows no partiality ... in every nation anyone who fears (God) and does what is right is acceptable to (God)." Christ's death and resurrection was "once, for all" -- and that's good news!
