The US Coast Guard Craft...

The US Coast Guard Craft, Polar Star, is one of two icebreakers homeported in
Seattle, Washington. The ship's design and computerized propulsion control system make
efficient use of its 75,000 horsepower. The portion of the hull that rams the ice is nearly
two inches thick. The hull is massively supported, equipping the ship to plow through ice
21-feet thick. The craft keeps sea lanes open and earns the gratitude of many ships that
follow its path.
