A tractor-trailer rig was stuck under an underpass. Soon a large crowd gathered to watch the show and jeer as the driver struggled to pull it free. He put the rig into low, but the trailer would not budge. Then the driver put the truck in reverse, floored the accelerator, and went nowhere! A small boy was standing in the crowd; he went up and banged on the cab door. "I think can help!" he said. The angry driver yelled back, "What could you know about it?" "Not much maybe," the boy said quietly, "but if I was you I would let the air out of the tires to free the trailer. This would make it lower. Then you could drive out and refill the tires." The angry driver smiled, let out the air, and drove free of the underpass.
One man said we learn wisdom more from failure than from success. God shared his wisdom in strange ways. Pastors learn to hear it from older women, young children, and from upset congregations. The wisdom of the cross is just that it worked. The world still hasn't gotten over that plan of redemption!
