Tommy had a pronounced speech impediment. But he wanted to sing. His family and friends told him to forget it. So Tommy did what he knew best: he kept quiet and prayed. He prayed because this desire was so deep within him it wouldn't let him rest. He dreamed about being a singer. He watched movies about singers. He listened to the songs in church, their lyrics and melodies lifting his spirit. He went to hear any singer who performed in the area. Tommy wanted to sing. But what would he do about his stuttering? What could he do about this thing that clouded his dream?
