Today, most people in the western world are skeptical when it comes to reading the signs in the sky. Despite the fact that every newspaper has an astrology corner, most people who read it do so out of amusement or with tongue in cheek.
Not our ancestors. Before the Reformation and the later period of enlightenment, it was common for kings to employ royal astrologers. In fact, great men of science such as Johannes Kepler were sought out by many to read the signs (Kepler in fact, kept his cupboard full, in part, by producing astrological calendars).
