It was the Christmas of 1954. The young boy was at a Roman Catholic Church with his girlfriend who was a Lutheran. He had been at church perhaps ten times in his life. He came from a rather well-to-do family in Chicago which belonged to Tam-O-Shanter Country Club. He had chosen engineering as a profession and everyone felt he would succeed in that field. He had a bright prospect for a future of happiness. But he was languishing.
