There's a story that comes out of the West Indies during the time of slavery. At one
particular sugar plantation, the slaves had never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Moravian missionaries came and asked the owner if they could come and preach the
gospel among the slaves. The owner refused.
The missionaries did the only thing they could. They sold themselves into slavery, so they could have unrestricted access to the plantation's slaves, preaching the gospel to them.
These were men who understood what it means to serve a Lord who, "because he himself was tested by what he suffered ... is able to help those who are being tested" (Hebrews 2:18).
